Job Description

Telemundo Arizona seeks an individual with a comprehensive understanding of television news production, outstanding writing and verbal communication skills, and on-camera live reporting. Individuals must also know about iNews, non-linear editing systems, and camera operation.

Responsibilities

  • This individual will manage shooting, writing, and editing daily stories and gather material to contribute to building the rundown.
  • This person is responsible and must be able to independently set up, run, and manage live shots.
  • Responsible for being a key communicator in the newsroom, specifically identified as a leader within the MMJ Team to help standardize processes and structure with the rest of the team.
  • Work closely with the Assignment Desk Manager, Executive Producer/Managing Editor, Senior Producer, and VP of News to manage the content creation process by directing the story angles and making edits based on their importance, length, and format.
  • Should keep a credible presence on various social media platforms.
  • File stories for our OTT (Over the Top) Platforms.
  • Write, produce, and present fair and correct news and feature stories using suitable graphics to represent information best.
  • Keep information on news events locally and nationally.
  • Develop and keep a network of contacts supplying access to exclusive stories.
  • Investigate information to show facts and find the truth.
  • Plan, produce, and anchor a 30-minute weekly political affair segment.
  • Handle supplying live on-air news in the studio and frequent field shoots.
  • Draft stories, headlines, and news updates for television, online, and digital platforms.
  • Write, produce, and present fair, correct, and unbiased news stories as assigned through the creative use of the video camera and proficient lighting and editing skills.
  • Occasionally anchor newscasts to the viewer in a professional manner.
  • Responsible for presenting breaking news to viewers during live and outside regularly scheduled newscasts.
  • Responsibilities also include keeping current on current events and news in our state.
  • Help producer in setting up sources, finding, and executing enterprise news investigations, building and keeping a solid list of story ideas on a year-round basis, both long-term deeper digging stories and quicker turns, document acquisition, and paper trails.
  • Send daily to the assignment desk an email with at least three-enterprise story proposals.
  • Able to make phone calls to set up interviews. These calls may happen outside of regular working hours.
  • Be able to work nights and weekends.
  • Work cooperatively as a team member under tight daily deadlines.
  • Gather news information and prepare for presentation on the newscast and all digital platforms.
  • Multi-media journalists will be expected to take part in community and station events.
  • Participate occasionally as emcee and Host as requested by the station.
  • Able to respond quickly to breaking news and take directions from and interact with the assignment desk, producers, reporters, anchors, and production control room personnel.
  • Keep technical equipment in the best operating conditions, including cameras and lighting gear.
