Job Overview: The Graduate Assistant for the Field Hockey and Women’s Lacrosse programs works under the direction of the head coaches and assists with the administration of a successful Division III athletic program. Responsibilities include coaching, recruiting, instructing, advising, counseling, and other administrative duties as assigned by the head coach or Athletic Director
Essential Functions:
- Work under the direction of the head coaches for field hockey and women’s lacrosse programs.
- Assist with the administration of a successful Division III athletic program, including but not limited to: coaching, recruiting, instructing, advising, film breakdown, counseling, and other duties.
- Serve as a positive role model for all student-athletes and represent Albertus Magnus College in a professional, responsible, and positive manner.
- Follow all NCAA, GNAC, and Athletics Department guidelines.
- Foster a culture of compliance with NCAA rules and regulations, and to assist with the promotion of an environment of institutional control over intercollegiate athletics by Albertus Magnus College.
- All other duties as assigned by the head coach, Director of Athletics and/or athletic administrative staff. Duties included but not limited to: assisting with the department’s Study Hall program, driving campus vans for road contests and providing support with home event management.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience at the collegiate, club, and/or scholastic levels as a student-athlete and/or coach.
- Knowledge of collegiate rules and a demonstrated compliance with said rules.
- Relevant work experience may be substituted to meet qualifications for the position.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Acceptance to the Albertus Magnus College full-time graduate program of one of the following programs:
- Master of Business Administration (MBA)
- Master of Science in Management and Organizational Leadership (MSMOL)
- Master of Science in Criminal Justice
- Master of Accounting
- Master of Healthcare Administration
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience as a student-athlete or coach of the sport(s).
- General understanding of the recruiting process at the college level.
- A demonstrated commitment to the NCAA Division III philosophy regarding the student-athlete experience.
Work Schedule Requirements:
- Special Work Schedule Requirements: This position includes weekend and evening hours.
