Job Duties

The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) is seeking a motivated and skilled individual to serve as an Accounts Payable General Accountant. This position processes invoices for DBHDS’ Central Office (Agency 720) and Grants to Localities (Agency 790), maintains duties by guidelines of the agency and the CAPPS manual, Topic #20330, and ensures data is reconciled accurately and timely with the various Fiscal offices processing and recording the revenues across internal and external agencies, departments, and political sub-divisions. This position also provides financial and administrative support of DBHDS Central Office and Grants to Localities activities, timely recorded, organized, tracked, accurately updated, and maintained useful reportable data, and excellent customer service to internal and external customers.

Minimum Qualifications

• Experience in Accounts Payable and knowledge of accounting principles.
• Ability to maintain contract and purchase order spreadsheet balances.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suites (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Ability to work independently and under pressure.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with good interpersonal skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with vendors, managers, and others.
• Ability to analyze financial data and prepare timely reports.
• Familiarity with State Travel Regulations.

Additional Considerations

• Experience with automated accounting systems to include Commonwealth’s Accounting and HR system (Cardinal) and DBHDS’s internal Financial Management System (FMS).
