What you’ll do:

 

Position title: SAP Ariba iXp Intern – AI Product Strategy and Data Science

Location: Palo Alto, CA (Hybrid) 

Expected Start: June/July 2025 

Schedule: 40 HR/week 

 

As an AI Product Strategy and Data Science Intern, you will work at the intersection of artificial intelligence, product innovation, and strategic analytics. This internship will support strategic initiatives aimed at embedding AI across procurement workflows, with a focus on delivering real, scalable value to enterprise customers.

 

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables:

• Partner with AI product managers and data scientists to shape AI features in areas such as spend classification, sourcing optimization, supplier risk scoring, and contract intelligence.

• Analyze product telemetry, customer usage patterns, and internal performance data to identify high-leverage AI opportunities.

• Design frameworks for evaluating AI feature performance and customer value (e.g., precision/recall tradeoffs, ROI modeling, usage funnel analysis).

• Support development of a “data product strategy” including internal and customer-facing data assets.

• Develop a machine learning or GenAI proof of concept with researchers (e.g., supplier clustering, contract summarization) from data exploration through evaluation, delivering a clear go/no-go recommendation.

• Build and integrate a production-ready AI or data service, including model pipeline automation and API development in collaboration with engineering teams.

• Deliver a final presentation and strategic memo to senior leadership outlining your insights, proposed roadmap changes, and product enhancement opportunities.

• Educational Requirements: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field.

• Position Requirements: Available for a full-time summer internship (10–12 weeks); able to work in a collaborative, cross-functional environment. 

Desired Skills / Experience:

• Basic knowledge of Python or SQL for data analysis

• Exposure to machine learning concepts or AI product applications

• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
