Maintenance Crew Leader II (Streets Maintenance)

JOB SUMMARY

Serves as a crew chief to supervise various job tasks assigned by the Superintendent and/or Foreman. Transports equipment to and from job sites. Operates various equipment such as sweepers, loaders, bulldozers, track excavators, maintainers, mowers, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Minimum 3 years' experience in operation of vehicles and light to medium equipment. Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience preferred.

Special Requirements:

Must be certified in CPR/First Aid within one year of employment. Must be able to lift weights of one hundred pounds. Must be able to obtain State of Texas Class "A" Commercial Driver's License within 90 days of employment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of preventive maintenance techniques
• Knowledge of modern construction and repair techniques
• Knowledge of street maintenance, drainage construction, etc.
• Knowledge of street, highway and drainage construction
• Ability to effectively listen, speak, and interact tactfully in a work group or with the public
• Ability to be an effective team member and accomplish team assignments within agreed upon time and established standards
• Ability to attend and participate in various trainings, seminars and online learning courses and interact with instructors and delegates
• Ability to understand engineer plans and design specifications
• Ability to read, write and speak in English
• Ability to communicate using a 2-way radio
• Ability to obtain various certifications/license as necessary to do projects/work assignments that may be required
• Ability to work extended hours and on call duty roster for emergencies
• Ability to understand and follow the City of Conroe/Departmental policies and procedures
• Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work is heavy; requires ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motions, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity and walking.
