Internship Program Overview:

Summary of Role:
GlobalFoundries is looking to hire Summer Intern Equipment/Maintenance Technicians to sustain and run the fab floor with primary responsibility of resolving equipment and process issues. Technician internship positions are shift positions working a compressed week of 12-hour shifts on days. GlobalFoundries is a 24/7 manufacturing facility providing technician support across all shifts.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Monitor, control, and qualify 200 mm semiconductor equipment
- Perform basic preventive maintenance activities on 200mm semiconductor equipment
- React to error messages of factory systems and/or equipment
- Review Statistical Process Control charts for process quality and react to Out of Control conditions including defect troubleshooting
- Process wafers using defined procedures
- Perform visual inspections (quality check)
- Recover from process and tool interruptions
- Understand and follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures and requirements
- Identify and address potential areas for improvement and optimize tool availability, cycle time, utilization, and cost.
- Complete all required reporting and documentation
- Actively participate in continuous improvement processes, learning and skills development
- Strong ability to work well with a global team
- Perform measurements to characterize the chemical, physical and biological properties of materials
- Use standard software applications (MS Office) and specific programs (Xsite, SiView, SPACE etc.) creating reports and documenting procedures
- Completion of an intern research project throughout 10-12 weeks, coupled with presenting these findings and recommendations to Senior Leadership through a poster session at end of internship.
Other Responsibilities:
- Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.
- Other duties as assigned by manager / supervisor.
Required Qualifications:
- Pursuit of 2-Year Associate Degree in Engineering and/or Technical Discipline (Mechanical/Electrical)
- Fluency in English Language - both Written & Verbal
- Fluency in Microsoft software applications / basic computer applications
- Physical Capacity demands - ability to stand for extended periods of time, lift up to 30 pounds, ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment / cleanroom suit.
