Description

Purpose:

The Emory & Henry University Department of Physical Science and Engineering Science is seeking a one-year Sabbatical Replacement Assistant Professor of Chemistry to start in August 2025.  

Our ideal candidate will be committed to undergraduate education in a liberal arts environment and interested in working in a department that values excellent teaching and research with undergraduates. Successful candidates should demonstrate evidence of teaching effectiveness in undergraduate courses and a commitment to supporting the core curriculum in a liberal arts and sciences setting.

Emory & Henry’s standard course load is 22-24 credit hours per year.  Engaged teaching at the undergraduate level is a faculty member’s primary responsibility at Emory & Henry.  Faculty are also expected to engage with faculty governance, participate in campus wide and departmental service.

Essential Duties:

  • Teach courses and labs related to Physical Chemistry and General Chemistry.
  • Develop research opportunities that will include undergraduates.
  • Contribute to the University’s strategic objectives.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Completed Ph.D. in Chemistry or an appropriate related field, ABD considered. 
  • Preference will be given to qualified candidates who do not require a work visa sponsorship and have authorization to work in the U.S.
