Senior Manager, Platform Software Engineering

Team Description:

This role offers the opportunity to lead delivery for core security and trust services, improve engineering practices, and build a high-performing team supporting reliable cloud services.

Leads one or more platform teams; defines tactical and key strategic elements for middleware evolution serving multiple consumers. Accountable for performance, cost control, and reliability outcomes; escalations for distributed debugging and upgrade safety. Drives significant cross-team improvements to observability, SLOs, and resilience patterns. Engages stakeholders inside and outside the group; socializes migration plans and adoption playbooks.

Team Responsibilities

• Lead and grow an engineering team supporting OCI security and trust services.
• Own technical direction and execution plans for a defined area across identity, authentication, authorization, service-to-service trust, KMS, secrets, KES, PKI, or certificates.
• Drive development and continuous improvement of monitoring, automation, control plane, and operational tooling.
• Partner with OCI, Security, Architecture, and Product teams to align priorities, resolve dependencies, and deliver against commitments.
• Improve service efficiency through automation, observability, engineering excellence, and operational improvements.
• Coach engineers and develop team members and emerging technical leaders.
• Plan team capacity, prioritize resources, and support hiring and headcount planning for the organization.
• Drive operational readiness, reliability, scalability, and customer-focused outcomes for security-critical cloud services.
• Establish strong engineering practices and a culture of accountability, innovation, and service ownership within the team.

Team Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience.
• Experience leading software engineers and/or engineering leads, with a track record of delivering through a team.
• Experience building or scaling engineering teams, services, or products.
• Experience operating large-scale distributed cloud services.
• Strong systems architecture and operational leadership experience.
• Experience with monitoring, automation, observability, infrastructure platforms, or control plane technologies.
• Proven ability to improve engineering execution, operational practices, and team effectiveness.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across partner organizations.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as OCI, AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud preferred.

Org Responsibilities

Platform Software Development:

• Lead multiple platform teams to standardize middleware patterns and client libraries used by several consumer teams.

• Establish group-level guardrails for APIs/SDKs, deprecation strategies, and upgrade playbooks; track adoption and risk.

• Sponsor shared observability frameworks and capacity models across teams; review error-budget posture and corrective actions.

Software Development and Coding - Design, Testing, and Optimization:

• Leads teams and provides technical recommendations and guidance in designing software solutions and identifying, analyzing and ensuring alignment with requirements.

• Manages the execution of processes to develop and guide new software features and enhancements following design specifications, ensuring accessibility, and to develop documents to clarify software design and code.

• Leads code and/or functional reviews to drive improvements across a project.

• Leads and reviews teams to conduct debugging and troubleshooting to identify and fix software issues across multiple components or functional areas.

• Provides teams guidance to implement software testing (e.g., functional and non-functional), quality assurance processes, software error logging, monitoring, and observability for effective debugging.

• Utilizes an analytic approach to conduct performance profiling and optimization of coding.
