Primary responsibilities:

  • Deliver roadmap for BIG-IP Data plane capabilities including security services
  • Foster individual, team, and organization growth, while maintaining a strong engineering- driven culture
  • Facilitate rapid hiring and onboarding of dynamic engineering talent
  • Ownership and responsibility of key technical areas of core ADC and Cloud products and services
  • Drive F5 strategy and vision
  • Own and communicate site strategy to key partners, including executive staff
  • Work cross-functionality with leadership from Product Management, Global Services, Manufacturing, Legal, HR
  • Management duties include the supervision of exempt and/or nonexempt level staff. This includes but is not limited to, conducting performance evaluations, approving paid time-off (PTO), assigning or delegating work, providing on-the-job training, giving mentorship to staff, conducting performance improvement plans, taking disciplinary action, and interviewing talent for open positions
  • Budget responsibilities include travel, approval of time off, office equipment and applications
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Responsible for upholding F5’s Business Code of Ethics and for promptly reporting violations of the Code or other company policies

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • B.S. Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or other technical degree, MBA is a plus
  • 10+ years development management experience, including leading multiple teams
  • 15+ year experience in SW development teams
  • Deep understanding of project and product life cycle, software and hardware development life cycle
  • Previous SW and/or Test development management experience
  • Familiarity with appliance and SW based product deliveries, with emphasis on networking and security
  • Experience in working with multiple geographies, specifically India
  • Be a strong multi-cultural communicator
  • Ability to work independently, remotely and handle ambiguity
  • Proven ability to grow a team toward excellence
  • Mentoring and developing direct reports
  • Proven ability to partner, communicate and influence at all levels, including line staff as well as executive staff
  • Understand training programs and curriculum development

Physical demands and work environment:

  •  Duties may require being on call periodically and working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends).
  •  International travel required, approximately 10-20%
