General Notes
This position will end effective one year from start date. Subsequent annual renewal of employment will be based upon performance review, progress towards research goals, and continuation of funding.
Purpose
The RESA will conduct research in cooperation with undergraduates, graduate students and postdocs in the lab and will assist in managing laboratory ordering and biosafety compliance. The broad area of research will be the role of ubiquitin-like proteins in innate immunity to viral and microbial pathogens, using biochemical and cell-based approaches.
Responsibilities
Will use standard molecular biology and biochemical techniques to express, detect and assay protein activities in bacterial and mammalian cells; CRISPR approaches will be used to alter gene expression in mammalian cell.
Assist in preparing reagents and maintaining laboratory stocks and inventory for the lab. Coordinating ordering for the lab and interacting with sales representatives.
Participating in laboratory meeting and planning sessions, ensuring laboratory personnel are up to date with training and maintaining biosafety standards for the lab.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, or a related area of biology. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
At least one year of biology research experience at the undergraduate level or higher is preferred. Experience with molecular cloning, protein expression and purification, and quantitative biochemical assays. Experience in analyzing proteomic datasets.
Salary Range
$35,568 + depending on qualifications
