Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Senior Project Manager/ITS & Technology Manager to be based in one of the following locations: Phoenix, AZ, San Francisco, CA, San Diego, CA, Los Angeles, CA, Seattle, WA, Denver, CO, and Murray, UT. This position can also be a remote position in or near one of the locations listed above.

 

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Work as a project manager for DOT and municipal projects for task orders through on-call contracts and standalone projects

  • Develop scope of services for ITS planning & design, traffic engineering studies & design, and emerging technology projects

  • Lead pursuits of both traditional government RFPs as well as unsolicited proposals related to new technologies in transportation

  • Develop existing and new client relationship with a focus on DOT, cities and municipal governments

  • Provides oversight and direction to project team members and subconsultants

  • Interact directly with clients at project meetings and ensure that all client project designs meet engineering standards

  • Interact directly with other disciplines such as roadway, drainage, structures, geotechnical, water, and environment and coordinate design

  • Conduct and execute technical work in the field of traffic engineering, ITS and emerging technology

  • Lead the development of Plans, Specifications, and Estimates (PS&E) packages based upon agency standards and specifications

  • Work as part of a team and independently in evaluating and applying Traffic Engineering principles, standards, and criteria

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS + 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 2 years of leadership

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in traffic and transportation engineering

  • Experience to include 2 years of project management and proposal development

  • Demonstrated capture manager experience leading pursuit and winning proposal

  • Project management training and certification

  • Experience selling to public sector agencies with a preference toward clients in the ITS and emerging technology transportation sector

  • Experience in client management, proposal development, other business development activities

  • Team-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision

  • Ability to communicate problems and solutions clearly and simply to clients, leadership, and technical staff

  • Excellent written, graphical, and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to balance various project responsibilities, budgets, and deadlines while maintaining professionalism and quality

  • Experience in traffic signal, ITS, lighting, signing and pavement marking design, Plan, Specifications, and Estimate Development 

  • Experience in Traffic Signal coordination, Adaptive Signal, ATSPM

  • ​​​​Experience in ITS design, traffic signal systems, systems engineering and ITS planning/architecture development

  • Knowledge of emerging technologies such as connected and automated vehicles and electrification

  • Experience and/or knowledge in traffic operational analysis including traffic projections, analysis, and simulation using Synchro/ SimTraffic, HCS, and VISSIM

  • Knowledge of safety analysis using HSM

  • Strong problem solving, analytical and research skills

  • Relocation assistance will be provided for this role
  • Offered rate of compensation (California locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $154,000-284,000/yr.
