What You'll Do

As an APP within our NICU program, you will assume direct responsibility for the management of neonates with complex acute and chronic medical conditions across our regional network.

Deliver Exceptional Clinical Care

  • Perform comprehensive assessments, diagnoses, and treatment planning.

  • Manage critically ill neonates across varying levels of acuity.

  • Perform advanced, life-saving procedures.

  • Monitor patient progress and evaluate outcomes to ensure the highest quality of care.

Collaborate Across a Regional Network

  • Practice within a unique tiered NICU system spanning six institutions across the Pacific Northwest.

  • Partner closely with neonatologists, fellows, nursing teams, respiratory therapists, and subspecialty providers.

  • Contribute to seamless, patient-centered care across Level II, III, and IV NICUs.

Advance the Field of Neonatology

  • Participate in clinical research and quality improvement initiatives.

  • Contribute to education and mentorship opportunities.

  • Help shape best practices and innovations in neonatal care.

A Program Built for Excellence

Level IV NICU at Seattle Children's Main Campus

Our 48-bed, state-of-the-art Level IV NICU provides care for the region's most medically complex newborns. Services include:

  • Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO)

  • Therapeutic Hypothermia

  • Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT)

  • Comprehensive surgical and medical neonatal care

In this collaborative environment, APPs, fellows, and neonatologists share responsibility for patient care and clinical decision-making.

  • Two Level III NICUs

  • Three Level II NICUs

Education & Requirements

For Nurse Practitioners:

Minimum of a master’s degree specifically in a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner program.

Current NNP Certification is required.

For Physician Assistants:

Graduate of a nationally accredited Physician Assistant progr
