About the role

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Income Tax Manager will play a critical role in the preparation and review of tax provisions in accordance with ASC 740. This includes analysis of M&A transactions, uncertain tax positions, and the maintenance of SOX controls. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in ASC 740, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across different functions and regions.

 

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Lead and manage the preparation and review of quarterly and annual tax provisions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with ASC 740 and other relevant accounting standards
  • Maintaining SOX controls and documentation, including technical memos on positions and processes
  • Manage the quarterly tax risk assessment in accordance with FIN 48
  • Oversee tax provision preparation for statutory financials.
  • Calculation of tax for budgeting purposes, as well as preparation of the cash tax forecast
  • Analyse mergers and acquisitions transactions to accurately determine opening balance sheet positions as well as purchase price allocations
  • Support tax technology initiatives
  • Directly supervise 1 to 2 direct reports
  • Educate and train team members on all aspects of ASC 740 and other relevant accounting standards

 

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Education: Bachelor's degree

Additional Education Preferred: Master's degree

Field of Study Preferred: Tax Accounting/Tax Law

Required Work Experience: 6+ years of corporate income tax accounting experience

Licenses Preferred: CPA, Master of Tax preferred

Required Computer and Software Skills: Experience with OneSource Tax Provision or similar tool, and advanced Excel skills required. Alteryx and SAP experience a plus

Travel Requirements: Some travel may be required, including international travel

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Have experience writing technical memos
  • Ability to work as a member of diverse teams including members of different functional areas and locations
  • Demonstrate strong judgment abilities
  • Experience using tax research tools is required
  • Demonstrated SME status in a complex area
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Subject to applicable law, employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
