Description

Job Summary:

Bournewood Hospital is seeking a compassionate and skilled Inpatient Group Therapist to provide therapeutic services to individuals in an inpatient setting. The therapist will facilitate group therapy sessions, provide psychoeducation, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and support both adult and adolescent patients in their mental health and SUD recovery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate structured group therapy sessions for patients dealing with various mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and substance use disorders.
  • Develop and implement therapeutic interventions tailored to the needs of the patient population.
  • Conduct assessments to determine group treatment plans and monitor progress.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with facility policies and regulatory standards.
  • Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques as needed.
  • Educate patients on coping strategies, emotional regulation, and relapse prevention.
  • Participate in team meetings, case consultations, and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Must have experience in leading groups
  • Degree in a relevant mental health field (Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or related discipline) preferred.
  • Active state licensure in a mental health field preferred

Preferred Experience & Skills:

  • Prior experience in an inpatient, residential, or acute psychiatric setting preferred.
  • Strong group facilitation skills with knowledge of evidence-based practices such as CBT, DBT, ACT, or trauma-informed care.
  • Spiritual advisor/ background for some candidates also preferred
  • Ability to manage a dynamic and sometimes high-risk patient population with professionalism and empathy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) documentation.
