Sometimes, an Emergency Department visit is not long enough to understand issues and concerns patients present. Other times, they may need additional time/treatment to feel healthy again. The Clinical Decision Unit at Weston Hospital is a 24-bed unit that cares for these patients as staff decide if they can be discharged safely or need to be admitted. As PCNA on this team, you are often the first point of contact for patients, so customer service skills and compassion are essential. In this position, you will have numerous opportunities to explore skill and educational resources and explore advanced positions within the Cleveland Clinic enterprise.
A caregiver in this position works 3 shifts per week from 7:00PM – 7:30AM, with rotating weekend requirements.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Attend to patient and family's immediate needs and problems by acknowledging and providing required attention.
Assist the patient with activities of daily living, including dressing, bathing and maintaining hygiene.
Carry out nursing orders and report all pertinent information regarding patient's condition to the appropriate nursing staff.
Interact with the Food and Nutrition Services to maintain an adequate supply of nourishment for the patients.
Provide patients with hygiene, nutritional needs, ambulation, toileting and linen changes.
Maintain orderliness and appearance of the unit, order supplies from Central Supply as needed and restock necessary supplies.
Transport patients on stretchers and beds.
Document care provided on the medical record as appropriate.
Interact with the Environmental Department to ensure an adequate supply of clean linen or daily patient care.
Collect and transport specimens as directed and in accordance with hospital policy.
Provide RN/LPN with accurate and timely intake/output data, vital signs, blood glucose results and other data as assigned.
