Job Description

We are currently looking for a Senior Product Engineer to join our Enterprise & Wholesale group! In this role, you will assume a technical leadership role within the Product Development organization. This role will consist of being a major contributor to the vision and strategy of the voice and data product portfolio for Brightspeed. Your duties will include working with the Brightspeed Network, Sales, Operations, and IT teams to create and define new services, resolution of unique or complex architecture problems, vendor/partner selection, strategic documentation, and communication of this work throughout the entire organization. You will have multiple highly complex architecture projects that may impact multiple business units. You will be a great motivator who can thrive in a fast-changing environment, with consistent drive to find ways to improve the network, share expertise and inspire fellow employees.

As a Senior Product Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide high level network architecture designs for Voice and Data solutions that meet the requirements of Product, Operations, Sales and other business units
  • Lead initiatives and projects to develop new network and voice services
  • Contribute to the voice and data technology future strategy innovation in support of the Wholesale and Enterprise customers
  • Define and evaluate internal and vendor provided solutions while ensuring alignment with strategic roadmaps, target architectures and industry standards evolution
  • Participate or follow industry standards forums as well as regulatory initiatives to ensure compliance with federal mandates and technology enhancements
  • Partner with Sales to lead internal cross-functional teams to obtain required approvals of non-standard designs for customers

 

Qualifications

WHAT IT TAKES TO CATCH OUR EYE:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education
  • 10+ years of experience in voice and data network architecture role
  • Experience in requirements gathering, architecture development, costing modeling
  • Experience performing technology assessments and making recommendations
  • Extensive knowledge of VoIP platforms and protocols, soft switches, feature servers, core routing engines, SBCs, gateways, UCC platforms, media servers, etc.
  • Knowledge of IP infrastructure, network routing, VoIP core routing, SS7 and peering connectivity to cloud-based services
  • Experience with Voice, VoIP, UCaaS and CCaaS partner ecosystems
  • Strong knowledge of internetworking designs and their applications, to include WAN technologies such as Ethernet, Wavelength, Private Line, and others
  • Technical knowledge of IP routing and switching, Internet and MPLS-VPN architecture, SDWAN and SASE architecture and complex routing techniques on LAN/WAN networks, IP Telephony, Security, network diversity applications and other technical skills documented above
  • Ability to document architecture and design in a timely manner while ensuring acceptable level of detail, data integrity, and accountability
  • Ability and willingness to share knowledge and expertise in a cross functional organization
  • Ability to work multiple projects simultaneously with the capability to manage schedule to handle varying workload and still meet tight deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Visio
  • Effective presentation, analytical, communications, and customer relationship skills
