POSITION LOCATIONS: Amarillo, TX |Dakota City, NE | Finney County, KS
SUMMARY: As a Carcass Merchandiser Summer Intern, you will obtain an understanding of the USDA beef grading standards and recognize how to work with graders in order to achieve optimum grade application. Your training will also teach you to apply Tyson selection and discounting specifications for processing. It is essential to be able to work with production management to achieve ideal inventory levels, maintain maximum efficiency in carcass selection and monitor all vital areas of the sales coolers. You will be in a plant environment checking refrigeration, spacing, ribbing, and lighting in all grading areas and reporting discrepancies to the sales manager and production management. Throughout the 10 to 12 week period you will have the opportunity to explore different divisions and departments, while learning the various aspects of the meat processing industry, both from a line inspection perspective and from an overall viewpoint.

REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Must be in good standing; entering Junior or Senior year, required with at least one semester remaining. Degrees in Agricultural, Animal, or Meat Science, or other related fields, preferred.
Experience: Some Meat evaluation experience is preferred.
Computer Skills: Knowledge of MS Office applications (Word and Excel) is preferred.
Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
Special Skills: Evaluation of beef carcass quality attributes will require good visual acuity and capacity for rapid decision making.
Travel: 1-2 trips to Corporate World Head Quarters in Springdale, AR may be required.
Position Specific Requirements: Must be able and willing to work on rotating shifts in cold environment with long periods of standing. This is a 10-12 week Internship.
This is a summer internship and will require approximately 40 working hours per week in-person. Housing stipend will be provided for any chosen candidates that are located outside of a 50-mile radius. *
