Description
Tabor Global Scholars (TGS) is a selective program that allows first-year Tabor students the opportunity to travel and study internationally. The program includes a paid international trip at the end of the student’s first year as part of a spring course taught by Millikin faculty. Furthermore, students will remain Tabor Global Scholars throughout their four years at Millikin by serving as ambassadors for Millikin’s international student population, by mentoring Millikin students wishing to study abroad, and by assisting the Center for International Education with international programming. Tabor Global Scholars will also receive an additional $1,000 scholarship on top of their financial aid package for all four years. This program is designed to offer a transformational experience for first-year Tabor students, thereby enabling Tabor Global Scholars to:
- Stimulate greater intellectual curiosity early in their college careers
- Practice democratic citizenship in a global environment
- Share and reflect upon their experiences with the Millikin community
- Feel more at ease about studying abroad in the future

Explain your interest and motivations in the Tabor Global Scholars program. In what ways do you expect that TGS will align with your interests and aspirations related to global citizenship and global engagement? What does the phrase “becoming a democratic citizen in a global environment” mean to you?
