About the role
Responsabilities:
- Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and oversee all of the Facilities Management Departments, (Engineering, Housekeeping, Laundry, Communications, Security departments)
- The Director of Facilities Management (or Director of Plant Operations) is responsible for the 24/7 operation, safety, and maintenance of the physical environment for residents and staff.
- Ensures that the facility remains compliant with strict healthcare-specific regulations while managing budgets, staff, and long-term capital projects.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and / or boards of directors.
- Deep understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems
- Ability to respond decisively during emergencies and resolve complex infrastructure issues under pressure.
- Proficiency in budget planning, cost-containment strategies, and analyzing financial data.
- Ensures the facility adheres to all federal, state, and local codes, including CMS, OSHA, NFPA (Life Safety Code), and state Department of Public Health standard
- Responsible for hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating maintenance and environmental services staff.
Education Requirements
- Education: Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, or Business Administration, or an Associate’s degree with significant experience.
- Experience: Require 5–10 years of facilities operations experience, with at least 3–5 years in a management or supervisory role. Prior experience in a healthcare or long-term care setting preferred
- Certifications: Highly preferred certifications include:
- CHFM (Certified Healthcare Facility Manager).
- CFM (Certified Facility Manager) or FMP (Facility Management Professional)
- FEMA ICS (Incident Command System) 100, 200, 700, 800.
