Louisiana Tech University is seeking to fill the position of Assistant Director of Facilities.
The Assistant Director of Facilities reports to the Director of Residential Life and is responsible for the management of maintenance in assigned Residential Life facilities to ensure that units are maintained in a safe and reasonable manner.

The position specifically carries the following responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all decisions and operations are conducted in a respectful and responsible way and in compliance with the relevant legislation, policies, and procedures of the University.
  • Supervise and lead maintenance and custodial civil service staff in an effective manner so that the level of morale is maintained and goals met.
  • Respond to concerns and complaints of residents and parents in a timely, positive and courteous manner.
  • Conduct performance evaluations for civil service employees.
  • Perform routine inspections of residential facilities for needed repairs and services and coordinate emergency and regular repairs.
  • Trains and develop service staff.
  • Prepare plans for short-term projects as well as preventative maintenance of facilities.
  • Manage contracts and relationships with university vendors and contractors.
  • Track work order progress and maintain inventory.
  • Communicate effectively with coordinators of student development regarding work/issues within their assigned work areas.
  • Assist in the preparation of facilities for summer conference groups/camps and student move-in.
  • Participate in professional staff on-call duty rotation to respond to student crisis, emergency maintenance, and campus emergency situations.

The person holding this position must possess outstanding professional leadership skills and
communication skills including those related to crisis management, earned bachelor's degree and three years of applicable supervisory experience required; knowledge of building maintenance, maintenance planning, and administration as well as basic skills for custodial care of a facility.
