About the role

  1. Provide consultation and HR expertise to assigned business areas, with a focus on employment practices and procedures, HR policies, compliance, talent management, performance management and communication with collective bargaining unit.
  2. Provide consultation, guidance and input on business unit operations and workforce planning.
  3. Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
  4. Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  5. Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  6. Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  7. Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  8. Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  9. Manage union-related matters including handling employee grievances, monitoring and ensuring compliance with resolution timelines, preparing related documentation, and representing the company in arbitration proceedings.
  10. Process and submit monthly invoices for employer-sponsored benefits, including supplemental benefits, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with contractual obligations.
  11. Collaborate with the HR Operations Manager to oversee and administer workers’ compensation claims.
  12. Manages employee benefits programs such as major medical and supplemental insurance, including prescription, dental, vision, life and short- and long-term disability, retirement plans, and education assistance plans
  13. Handle benefit inquiries and complaints to ensure quick, equitable, courteous resolution
  14. Review and process monthly benefit invoices from all vendors; ensure timely processing
  15. Performs other duties as
Qualifications

Education:     Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field, preferably in Human Resources or related area.

     Strong oral & written communication skills. Proficiency in Math and English and computer programs.

Experience:   Four (4) years employee relations experience. Experience in union environment.
