Phlebotomist

Life Scan Wellness Centers, a nationally recognized medical practice that provides annual physicals, wellness exams, and fitness evaluations for public safety officials seeks a skilled and experienced phlebotomist to join our team. The applicant will be responsible for drawing blood from patients, processing specimens, and preparing them for laboratory testing.

This position involves local work in S. Florida as well as frequent expense-paid travel throughout the year for up to a week at a time.

The successful candidate will ensure that proper patient identification, specimen labeling, and the safety of patients during the blood drawing process is upheld. Responsibilities

• Conduct accurate blood specimen collection and processing
• Verify patient's identity and prepare patients for blood drawing procedures
• Explain the blood drawing process to patients so they may be more comfortable
• Label specimens correctly and carefully follow labeling policies
• Maintain and order laboratory supplies and equipment
• Follow infection control and OSHA guidelines as it relates to blood drawing
• Accurately document collected specimens and patient information

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Successful completion of Phlebotomy training or equivalent work experience
• Active Phlebotomy certification by a recognized accredited institution
• Strong knowledge of the blood drawing process and techniques, including venipuncture and capillary blood collection on patients of all ages
• Familiarity with various blood draw tubes, labelling protocols, and equipment
• Must demonstrate excellence in infection control and safety procedures.
