Overview

Northwood Technical College is seeking applications from qualified candidates for a part-time (LTE) EMS Clinical/Student Success Coordinator at any of our four campus locations. (Ashland, New Richmond, Rice Lake or Superior)

 

This position is a grant funded limited-term employment opportunity until June 30, 2027.

 

The EMS Clinical/Student Success Coordinator provides coordination and oversight of the clinical education components of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) programs. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining partnerships with clinical agencies, coordinating student clinical experiences, ensuring compliance with accreditation and regulatory requirements, managing clinical scheduling and documentation systems, and supporting student success throughout the clinical education process. Work is multi-faceted, requiring judgement, analysis and decision-making according to established practices and procedures.  The coordinator works collaboratively with faculty, students, healthcare/EMS partners, and college staff to ensure high-quality clinical learning experiences that prepare students for successful careers in Emergency Medical Services.

 

This position plays a vital role in ensuring students receive exceptional clinical learning experiences while maintaining compliance with accreditation standards, fostering healthcare partnerships, and supporting the overall success of Northwood Technical College's Emergency Medical Services programs.

  • Coordinate, schedule, and oversee clinical education experiences for all EMS programs, ensuring students meet program, accreditation, and clinical site requirements.
  • Develop, maintain, and strengthen partnerships with hospitals, EMS agencies, healthcare organizations, and other clinical affiliates to expand and sustain quality clinical learning opportunities.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Northwood Tech and clinical agencies regarding scheduling, placement, onboarding requirements, and student performance.
  • Manage all aspects of student clinical scheduling using Platinum Planner, including entering approved shifts, monitoring participation, troubleshooting scheduling issues, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Provide training and ongoing technical support to students, faculty, and clinical partners in the use of Platinum Planner and related clinical management systems.
  • Coordinate student onboarding requirements, including immunization verification, tuberculosis screening, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification tracking, and collection and maintenance of required compliance documentation.
  • Conduct clinical orientation sessions to prepare students for successful participation in clinical experiences and ensure understanding of agency expectations and program requirements.
  • Monitor student progress throughout clinical experiences and communicate performance, concerns, and completion status with faculty and students to support academic success.
  • Promote a culture of student success by providing responsive communication, guidance, and support throughout the clinical education process.
  • Participate in department, division, college, and community meetings and initiatives that support EMS program and college goals.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of student health, background, and compliance records in accordance with HIPAA, FERPA, institutional policies, and clinical site requirements.
  • Maintain records within designated systems according to accreditation, college, and clinical partner requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and consistency within clinical compliance processes and communicate recommendations to program leadership.
