The role of the Sustainability Solutions Data Architect is to understand sustainability priorities and strategically collaborate closely with business domain experts to provide significant tangible business value through leading, developing, and deploying scalable Data Engineering
capabilities for high-value sustainability solutions. This is a great opportunity for someone to lead and facilitate bringing the appropriate technology, process, and solutions together as they contribute to enabling LYB’s long-term strategy on Renewable energy, CO2 reduction and delivering on circularity ambition.  This role will support the development and execution of data-driven strategy across all pillars of Sustainability.

Roles & Responsibilities

 

• Develop a deep knowledge of the Sustainability area, including key driver sustainability goals, short- and long-term roadmaps, key projects, and personnel
• Lead innovative technology solutions development for renewable energy technologies and emerging sustainability trends such as carbon capture, circular economy, etc.
• Investigate new and developing sustainability technologies and lead the project team to determine how to leverage these new technologies for projects
• Advise Sustainability SMEs and stakeholders in identifying ways to leverage data effectively; Lead the project team to deliver foundational data sets including both quantitative and qualitative elements
• Work with Sustainability stakeholders to identify areas of technical needs for future capabilities; Place emphasis on delivering value through data and solutions, through excellent problem solving, development, and implementation of scalable solutions
• Work collaboratively in delivering critical data-driven solutions on high-impact problems
• Lead efforts with architects and data engineers to design and develop data workflows and pipelines necessary; Leverage deep data engineering, architecture, advanced technologies, software development expertise, and code development standards to enable the delivery of advanced analytics projects
• Lead Data Engineers to design and develop code, scripts and data pipelines that leverage structured and unstructured data
• Work with architects and data engineers to define and develop technical platforms, frameworks, and applications; take lead to provide data, business intelligence, and information
• Manage Sustainability data sets using both internal and external systems
• Network internally and externally to build relationships that foster technology transfer and collaboration
• Mentor, train and develop of other team members
• Collaborate with other software developers, business analysts and architects to find solutions to achieve business aims
• Work together with other product teams to integrate Sustainability data into larger business data, systems, and decisions
• Take complex information and create a compelling story, including visualizations
• Develop tools and procedures for reporting to various internal and external audiences 
• Contribute to the development of impact-focused, data-driven strategy for the Sustainability Team
• Stay current on LyondellBasell IT strategies and standards and influence customers in support of the strategies and standards.

Min. Qualifications

 

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, MIS, or related technical field
• 4+ years professional hands-on experience measurement and analysis, quantitative business problem solving, operations analysis, marketing analysis, simulation development and/or predictive analytics. Proficient in analytics software and applications. 
• 4+ years hands-on experience in leading complex/large scale data management projects
• 5+ years direct experience in Data, Data Analytics, data integration and visualization; experience creating data models, data blending, Database, Data Management, data warehouse and ETL design and development 
• Experience in development on Azure Cloud (PaaS) Data Solutions
• Demonstrated ability to drive a project, and work both independently and in a team
• High level of enthusiasm and a love of data, software development, and data engineering
• Strong quantitative, data-intuition and problem-solving skills, including strong data and technical knowledge and skills 
• Strong Analytical skills and proficiency in data analytics techniques required including presentation of data results
• Strong knowledge and proficiency in extraction and analysis of data from a wide variety of systems (e.g., SAP data, both ECC and HANA warehouses, as well as cloud systems), leveraging data analysis tools
• Expertise in creating dashboards/story framing
