Job Description
As a senior manager in competence cluster "Distributed Perception and Positioning" with focus on Machine Learning, you will have disciplinary responsibility for a group of about 20 research engineers and scientists working in the field of Computer Vision / Distributed Perception in Automated Driving, Robotics and Video Surveillance. You will mentor and coach your team members to accelerate their personal and professional growth. In terms of mentoring, you will provide technical guidance in the domain of deep learning. In a shared leadership team with two other cluster co-leads, you will be responsible for shaping and performing the cluster's long-term competence strategy including attracting top talents. Within your focus expertise Deep Learning for Computer Vision you will engage with Bosch strategic portfolios of Corporate Research to understand tomorrow's competence demands and interact with the academic community to identify future talents and strengthen Bosch's footprint in the relevant academic communities. Publication of your work at internal and external scientific workshops and conferences will foster the links into those communities.
- You will create an overview of the scientific environment and research trends in Distributed Perception, Computer Vision, and Deep Learning. With this knowledge, you will contribute to technical strategies of the strategic project portfolios and identify future research topics.
- Work closely with the Bosch product divisions to understand their specific needs in Computer Vision and Machine Learning as well as technical constraints in their tool- and process-landscapes.
- As a group leader of an interdisciplinary team of researchers working on distributed perception and positioning you will have appropriate disciplinary responsibilities.
- You will have a shared leadership responsibility for the competence cluster "Distributed Perception and Positioning". Together with two other cluster co-leads, you will define and execute the cluster's competence strategy in alignment with competence demands in strategic portfolios.
- You will be responsible for attracting and hiring top talents with appropriate expertise.
- You will actively shape your team's culture and identity and support the professional and personal development of your team members.
- You will create an efficient, motivating, agile and inspiring working environment for the cluster members.
- You will build up a network to both Bosch business units as well as relevant universities, research institutions and start-ups.
Qualifications
- Education: completed university studies (master's degree/diploma/PhD) in computer science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, computer vision, electrical engineering, physics, preferably with a PhD or a comparable subject
- Personality and Working Practice: convincing personality, high level of commitment combined with teamwork and sociability,Convincing communication skills towards employees, upper management, and other stakeholders
- Experience and Knowledge: proven expert in deep learning through active participation in series product development and / or research projects, proven references and well-received publications at top conferences are a plus, independent, goal-oriented and systematic approach to new topics, Programming experience in relevant technical areas with knowledge of the Python programming language and deep learning frameworks (e.g. Pytorch), deep learning realtime application and realisation on embedded devices are a plus
- Qualifications: several years of proven experience in the technical and disciplinary leadership of employees
- Languages: business fluent in written and spoken German and English
