About the role

Overview:   Universal Engineering Sciences (UES) has an opening in our Construction Services Department. UES is a nationwide leader in Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Materials Testing and Inspection, Building Code Compliance, Environmental, Occupational Health & Safety, and Building Envelope.
Summary:The Project Manager is a key role, responsible for coordinating all activities within the Construction Services Department, including project documentation management and communication with clients, field technicians, engineers, and municipalities. Physical Demands & Work Environment:• Required to drive, stand, walk, use hands to type, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance, talk, and hear. Body motions and movements include bending, twisting, reaching, stooping, pulling, kneeling, lifting, carrying, and pushing, with or without reasonable accommodation.• Lifting and/or moving up to 35 pounds regularly is expected, and up to 75 pounds on occasion, with or without reasonable accommodation.• This is not a remote position. This job will be based on the selected job posting location.• This job is located in Florida, with exposure to intense sun, intense heat, humidity, rain, thunderstorms, and other adverse weather conditions.• Job site conditions may or may not be accessible by vehicle and can include wetlands, swamps, grasslands, and fields with uneven surfaces, sand, brush, and other natural and man-made obstacles• This job is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and construction sites where the noise level is usually moderate to loud.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs CMT project manager duties which include QC for several commercial and residential projects, including delegation of various tasks to administrative personnel.
  • Compiles reports, QC plans, and job guide schedules.
  • Provides problem solving and resolution on project issues.
  • Attend pre-construction and post-construction meetings.
  • Supervise field staff as needed.
  • Timesheet review, productivity, invoicing and reporting.
  • Create proposals, reports and work orders as they arise.
  • Coordinates personnel and equipment within the branch
  • Coordinates project activities and billing with Project Coordinators
  • Performs other duties as assigned and directed by the Department Manager
  • Regular attendance is required

  • Other duties may be assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid Florida Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record (in accordance with our Driver’s License and Motor Vehicle Record Check Criteria), may or may not be required to perform the duties and responsibilities of the role
  • Ability to pass a background check screening in accordance with Florida’s Jessica Lunsford Act (or equivalent state classification)
  • Experience in permitting and plan review processes, prefer ICC Certified Permit Technician
  • Knowledge of local building codes and regulations
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and efficiency
  • Proficient understanding of Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to read and write, including interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, as well as writing routine reports and correspondence and speaking effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and customers/clients
  • Computer skills sufficient to operate a laptop, including sending and receiving emails, and the ability to learn Field Data Collection (FDC)/Inspector Gadget to input data and prepare reports
  • Mathematical skills sufficient to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Reasoning ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram form

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Florida Engineering Intern License
  • Previous experience in the Construction Materials Testing Industry
