About the role

VCA Veterinary Specialists of Northern Colorado is seeking an experienced, Registered Veterinary Technician to join the Neurology Team at our AAHA-accredited, 24-hour emergency/specialty referral practice located in Loveland, Colorado.

The range for this position is $22.00-$26.00/h. 

Shifts are 10 hour shifts, 4 day/week from 8:00am-6:00pm.

VSNC is fully equipped to receive any small animal veterinary patient needing emergency care.

Our neurology technicians play an integral role within our team, delivering exceptional care and support across multiple specialty departments. At VSNC, you will be caring for a variety of cases ranging from those needing basic nursing care to those requiring advanced, interdisciplinary treatments. This includes but is not limited to: 

Neurology Service Details: 

VSNC has 2 full-time board-certified Neurologists and a higly trained staff of credentialed veterinary technicians and assistants. The department focuses on all things relating to the nervous system, including head tilts, circling, seizures, limb weakness and paralysis, and much more. Some procedures include advanced imaging with our MRI and CT scanner, ventral slots, hemilaminectomies, spinal taps, etc. Our neurology team is dynamic and fast paced and regularly collaborates with other departments to provide the most exceptional care possible. At VSNC, you will be caring for a variety of cases ranging from those needing basic nursing care to those requiring advanced, interdisciplinary treatments. An ideal candidate has the following qualifications: 

· Proficiency in obtaining medical histories for consultations and recheck visits including obtaining medical records from referring veterinarians. 

· Compassionate client service and assistance with tele-triage.  

· Assistance with hospital admission and discharging of patients from the neurology service. 

· Proficient in small animal restraint, including handling of patients with neurological conditions and deficits. 

· Basic knowledge and understanding of disease processes and medications. 

· Basic knowledge of laboratory sample preparation and handling, including outside diagnostic laboratories. 

· Knowledge of basic veterinary practices, procedures, and terminology, including the ability to work around potentially hazardous material, zoonotic disease, and sick animals.  

· Comfortable and proficient with performing anesthesia and monitoring (SpO2, CO2, non-invasive and invasive blood pressure monitoring, EKG monitoring); Patient recovery from anesthetized procedures
