About the Role:
The Senior Editor works independently to perform substantive editing, copyediting and proofreading on blogs, data-driven research reports, executive speeches, event materials, internal communications, memos and other content. Reviews content and charts for accuracy, clarity, consistency and organization as well as grammar, punctuation, style and usage. Responsible for making content clearer and more engaging. Serves as a guardian of the Dallas Fed’s brand and reputation and ensures content is accurate and aligns with standards. Champions and implements editing best practices across the organization. This role is part of the Dallas Fed’s integrated communications team, helping engage audiences through multiple channels including web, internal channels, social media, email marketing and more.
About the Communications Department:
The Dallas Fed’s communications team actively and strategically employs communications to advance the Bank’s strategy and priorities. It comprises employee, public, and executive communications as well as media relations. The team aligns and integrates the Bank’s public-facing communications on policy, research, banking, and community issues while ensuring employees are informed and engaged in our work and the bank’s mission.
You Will:
- Perform substantive editing, copyediting and proofreading on blogs, data-driven research reports, executive speeches, event materials, internal communications, memos and other content.
- Review content and charts for accuracy, clarity, consistency and organization as well as grammar, punctuation, style and usage.
- Make content clearer and more engaging and serve as a guardian of the Dallas Fed’s brand and reputation and ensures content is accurate and aligns with standards.
- Work as part of a team to plan communications and content projects to meet customer requirements and schedules. Serve as liaison, communicating with all involved parties on the topic of editing.
- Help implement best practices in editing and content across the organization.
- Possibly provide writing and editing support on special projects.
You Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, public relations, English or related field.
- Five years of editing experience for news media, business, technical, academic or corporate content.
- Federal reserve or economics editing experience preferred.
- High level of editing ability with an attention to detail but the experience to know when changes aren’t needed, plus solid writing skills.
- Deep knowledge of AP style and familiarity with academic styles.
- Proficiency with Microsoft products, particularly Word and Excel.
- Knowledge of digital content best practices.
- Ability to interpret data-rich charts and infographics and determine accuracy of the articles they support.
- Familiarity with reference tools such as style and grammar guides.
- Ability to deliver work under tight deadlines.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Independent judgment and creativity.
- Excellent organization, interpersonal and time-management skills.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and switch easily between them while delivering high-quality results with little supervision.
- Enthusiasm about craft with an ambition to learn, staying on top of trends and industry best practices, techniques and related technologies.
