The Project Associate supports the Project Manager and leadership of the Professional Practice team (PPT) within the National Standards Professional Group (NPSG) and is responsible for executing on small to medium-scaled, low risk projects or operational responsibilities. This will include support for the following groups within PPT: Industry team, SEC Services group and Regional Professional Practice Office. The role requires an ability to apply general project management principles that are in line with the assurance support project management and operations methodology. Successful candidates skills include issues management, risk management, status reporting, communications, and escalation as needed. He or she will be a problem solver, creative thinker, a fast learner, be detail-oriented and actively growing their knowledge of the firm and the various LOBs, so as to be able to apply that knowledge to their role. In addition, we are looking for a creative and dedicated individual who will develop and practice the Power of Being Understood and the 5 First Choice Advisor traits: Caring, Curious, Collaborative, Courageous, and Critical Thinker.Project Management & Planning- Executes on project scope, and manage to objectives, schedule, and deliverables that support business goals.
- Tracks project progress using project plans, activity logs and status reports.
- Assists project teams in identifying roadblocks and project risks.
- Identifies activities as either in or out of scope per the initial project charter and works directly with the project team to determine whether a change in scope is necessary.
- Provides activity oversight for completion of established objectives and activities.
- Schedules and facilitates meetings, prepares meeting materials, and facilitates meeting while documenting key meeting topics for distribution to attendees afterwards.
- Sends appropriate communications using standard templates and processes.
- Delivers on the above responsibilities as a project manager within an enterprise program.
- Uses established project or operations management templates to document project goals, scope, assumptions, constraints, dependencies, risks and roles within the project charter.
- Develops and maintain a detailed project plan/schedule, according to standard templates, using natural language simply, clearly, unambiguously, and concisely
- Creates the communication plan and the activity log.
- Responsible for the accuracy and completion of all project documentation.
- Works with project sponsor and stakeholders to document the projects vision and scope.
- Works with project team to ensure proposed solutions align with requirements and maximizes value to stakeholders.
- Sends appropriate communications to all levels including sponsors and senior leadership.
- Works with project sponsor and stakeholders to identify appropriate project team members for each key activity or milestone and discuss their involvement in the requirements process, weigh in
- on deliverables, execute on training/change management.
- Assists project managers with large scale projects or process improvement initiatives.
- Develops and maintains the department's operational processes and the supporting documentation.
- Mentors, formally or informally, Project Coordinators or LOB support staff
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in business-related field or equivalent experience
- Advanced proficiency in applications and MS Office products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, SharePoint, and Visio
- Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment and consult effectively with employees at all levels
