About the role
Are you a passionate about managing financial projects across different levels of business? This position Manager is responsible for managing and tracking financial aspects of projects, ensuring accuracy of project actuals, and maintaining up-to-date project milestones. This role supports project managers and finance teams by providing detailed financial analysis, forecasts, and variance reports, enabling informed decision-making and effective project execution. We're on the lookout for a Project Accounting Manager who will work closely within the finance organization. Based in one of our Irvine, CA or New York, NY office on a hybrid basis you’ll be managing and tracking a variety of projects.
What you’ll be doing
As part of the finance organization, you’ll play a vital role in management and reporting, milestone tracking, invoicing, cost projection, audit, and process efficiency. At all levels, colleagues will rely on your keen eye and accounting knowledge and your ability to improve processes and efficiencies in day-to-day operations. It’s a role with a lot of variety, and day-to-day, you’ll mainly be involved with:
- Record, analyze, track and report project financials, including actuals, and commitments and ensure reporting alignment with approved budgets and forecasted expenditures.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management review.
- Work closely with project managers to track and report milestones and identify potential delays or financial risks
- Review project invoices/billings, and commitments to ensure accuracy and compliance with contractual terms and vendor terms.
- Liaise with Procurement and Project Management teams to ensure all material movements are completed timely, accurately and includes a complete population of the applicable cost.
- Review and interpret completed milestones and calculated final cost based on the project scope of work, subcontractor schedule of values and bill of materials.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation and responding to inquiries.
- Ensure all project-related transactions are compliant with company policies and relevant regulations.
What you’ll bring

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA is a plus.
- 5 years of experience in project accounting, financial analysis, or related fields.
- Expert in project accounting, job costing and project management.
- Proficiency in financial software (e.g., ERP systems) and Excel.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of GAAP and revenue recognition standards is a plus.
