What this job involves –

The Building Maintenance Assistant supports operation, inspection, and maintenance processes to mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment and systems in assigned facilities. Assists Senior Building Engineer in maintenance and repair efforts, as well as independently performing defined tasks.

Your day to day:

Maintenance

• Performance of ongoing preventive and repair response work orders on facility mechanical, electrical, plumbing and other installed systems, equipment, and other components.
• Assist with assigned facility inspections and due diligence efforts, reporting on as found conditions impacting satisfactory client occupancy and operations.
• General interior maintenance – hang pictures, install keyboard trays, repair office furniture systems and repair doors.
• Assist the operations team in the maintenance and repair of building and equipment and/or as directed
• Moves office furniture, machinery, equipment and other materials as requested
• Replace lighting and ballasts
• Assist with cleaning HVAC coils, change filters and belts.
• Other tasks as assigned

Safety

• Complete Hazard Assessments as necessary
• Comply with all safety procedures, maintaining good housekeeping and safety of work areas. Recognize danger and safety hazards and propose methods to eliminate them.
• Maintain compliance to State, County, or City Ordinances, Codes, or Laws.
• Must complete all required safety trainings as scheduled
• Complies with all policies for the safe storage, usage and disposal of hazardous materials. 

Administrative

• Input and manage work order tickets in real time to client portal. Learn Nuvolo ticket system
• Escalate problems or issues to Senior Building Engineer and Facilities Manager
• Attend work and safety meetings as required

Other

• Any and all other duties and tasks assigned to help the office and building.
• Assist with maintenance of other locations in West Palm Beach and Miami.
• Backup to Senior Building Engineer when on PTO or out of the office.

MINIMUM REQUIRED

Education/training

• High school diploma or equivalent

Years of relevant experience

• Have a minimum of 1 year of applicable working experience in general building repair and maintenance, basic plumbing, and basic electrical.

• Strong Interpersonal skills
• Self-motivated and initiative oriented
• Ability to prioritize tasks

Certifications/Licenses/Requirements

• Dependable transportation to travel to West Palm Beach and Miami sites on occasion (mileage reimbursable).

Physical work requirements and work conditions

• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and climb up to 30 ft ladders.
• Position requires frequent climbing, bending, kneeling, lifting, and driving.
• Must pass background, drug/alcohol
