Job Summary:

Pharmacy technicians assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining the drug inventory, and maintaining patient records. Pharmacy technicians work under direct supervision of a registered pharmacist and do not perform duties that can legally be performed only by a registered pharmacist.

 

Qualifications

Required Training/Education/Experience/Certification:  

College courses desirable but not required.  Registration with California State Board of Pharmacy. Ability to perform work accurately with attention to detail within specified time periods.  Ability to work cooperatively with health-system and pharmacy staff.  Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule.  Ability to set priorities and solve problems.  Ability to respond quickly to emergency requests.  Ability to communicate effectively (orally and in writing).  Ability to assist Pharmacists in meeting the pharmaceutical care needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.

 

Pay range: $19.5 - $25.82

Individual wages are determined based upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications and experience

This individual’s responsibilities include (but are not limited to): Accurately fill and label medication orders with correct strength, dosage form, and quantity in a timely manner. Accurately stock automated dispensing cabinets (ADCs) in a timely manner. Fill/refill emergency crash carts, boxes, and kits timely and accurately. Re-package and label oral medications/extemporaneous preparations and maintain appropriate records. Respond appropriately to requests for STAT order
