Salary: $40,000.00 - $55,000.00 base salary per year (range varies by skills and experience)

AttainX Inc. is seeking a highly motivated Data Engineer Intern (Entry Level) with strong academic standing and hands-on project experience in data management, ETL pipelines, and cloud analytics. The selected intern will join our Innovation Labs, where they will apply modern engineering practices to design scalable data workflows, build and optimize pipelines, and integrate advanced analytics models into secure environments. This role provides direct mentorship and an opportunity to work on federal innovation projects that require data quality, compliance, and real-time insights.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Master’s or bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related quantitative discipline with exceptional academic performance (GPA 4.0 preferred).
• 1–3 years of hands-on project or professional experience in ETL pipeline development, data quality management, or cloud-based data workflows.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL for building, transforming, and validating datasets.
• Practical knowledge of big data frameworks (Apache Spark, Hadoop, Redshift) and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Snowflake, or Azure).
• Familiarity with machine learning workflows (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch) for enabling analytics in data pipelines.
• Proficiency with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, Matplotlib, Seaborn) for reporting and insights.
• Strong problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills with experience in Agile environments.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with stakeholders, mentor peers, and deliver results under strict deadlines.

 Job Duties 

• ETL Development & Optimization: Build and maintain pipelines to extract, clean, and transform structured and unstructured data from APIs, databases, and system logs into PostgreSQL, Redshift, or other warehouses.
• Data Management: Apply validation rules, data quality checks, and compliance workflows to ensure datasets are secure, reliable, and analysis-ready.
• Cloud Integration: Support AWS and Spark-based deployments of analytics workflows, enabling scalability and faster data accessibility.
• Analytics Enablement: Prepare datasets for supervised and unsupervised ML models (forecasting, anomaly detection, NLP, computer vision).
• Visualization & Insights: Build dashboards in Power BI/Tableau to provide operational, healthcare, risk, and cybersecurity insights.
• Real-Time Data Processing: Contribute to projects involving system log analysis, anomaly detection, and fraud/risk monitoring using Python and cloud-native tools.
• Documentation & Collaboration: Create clear technical documentation, present findings to stakeholders, and support Agile sprint deliverables.
• Continuous Learning: Stay engaged with emerging practices in data engineering, MLOps, and cloud-native data architectures.
