Role Summary
Flywheel Energy is a fast-growing private oil and gas company focused on building momentum where it matters. We’re seeking a self-directed Senior Accountant to support financial reporting, corporate accounting, and audits. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, be detail-oriented, and bring strong technical skills to drive accuracy, compliance, and process improvements.
Responsibilities

Prepare and review month-end close reports, quarterly and annual financial statements, and related analyses to ensure accuracy and compliance with U.S. GAAP.
- Research proper accounting treatment for various matters as they arise.
- Support acquisition and strategic transaction activity, including purchase price allocations (PPAs) and settlement statements.
- Prepare and analyze variances in operating results and financial position.
- Assist with preparation of ad hoc reports, providing in-depth analysis of trends, variances, and key metrics for management.
- Oversee and assist with documentation and support for the annual external audit to ensure compliance and transparency.
- Prepare and review general and administrative (G&A) expense analysis.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of U.S. GAAP and technical accounting principles
- Contribute to special projects, initiatives, and process improvements to enhance efficiency.
- Streamline, standardize, and automate reporting capabilities.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of financial reporting experience, preferably in oil and gas; public accounting experience a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills; ERP accounting system experience required.
- Highly detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities independently.
- Learning-oriented, adaptable, and eager to take on new challenges.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
- Analytical thinker with a focus on solutions and results.
- Thrives in a self-directed team environment and embraces Flywheel’s “do it as a team” behavior.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; Master’s degree a plus.
- 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in oil and gas or a related industry.
- Public accounting experience a plus.
- Experience with acquisitions and divestitures preferred.
- Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting standards preferred.
- CPA license or active CPA candidate a plus.
