Description

Responsible for leading staff and processes so that orders are shipped accurately and in a timely fashion. Coordinates all of the assigned facility’s shipping functions on a daily basis. Oversees personnel in the materials department to ensure timely delivery. Maintains and files all necessary records and reports. Ensures team is hitting required daily metrics. 

Key Responsibilities

•      Plans and coordinates activities related to the of products.•      Leads morning huddles daily to ensure daily requirements are shared with the team. •      Runs shipping lists for domestic shipping and international shipping. Issues the orders accordingly, based on customers’ requests, to ensure timely delivery to customers as measured by the missed shipment weekly report.•      Selects routings for freight haulers on domestic shipments or based on customers’ requests.•      Tracks and maintains records for export documents. •      Prepares documents for both domestic and international shipping.•      Research and resolves lost and/or damaged freight.•      Communicate with internal customers on shipment details to provide timely shipping of sales orders.•      Responsible for monitoring shipping supply stock levels and coordinating purchases with the sourcing team. •      Assists in maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient warehouse.•      Performs other related duties as required or assigned. LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIESo    Interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, addressing complaints and resolving problems. o    Working with Human Resources on employee issues.

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

•      Writes routine reports and correspondence.•      Effectively communicates information and responds to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with vendors, internal and external customers, the general public, and other employees of the organization.•      Works with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.•      Solves practical problems and deals with a variety of known variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.•      Interprets a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram formats.•      Reads and understands documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.•      Utilizes common-sense understanding in order to carry out written, oral, or diagrammed instructions.•      Plans the time, method, manner, and/or performance sequence of own work; may also occasionally assist in planning work assignments performed by others within a limited area of operation.
•      Frequently makes decisions of both minor and major importance, which may affect the work operations of other employees and/or clientele to a moderate degree.•      Uses noncomplex machines and equipment (adding machines, calculators, copy/fax machines, etc.). Education and Experience•      Leadership Experience (preferred)•      1-3 years of relevant education or experience in shipping, logistics, or a related area (required). Computer Skills•      Basic: Alphanumeric data entry, Microsoft Office suite. Certificates and Licenses•      None. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES•      While performing the functions of this job, the employee is:o    Continually required to stand or walk and to talk or hear.o    Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and to reach with hands and arms.o    Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.•      The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.•      Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and an ability to adjust focus.The company will make reasonable accommodations to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions and expectations. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS•      This position is not subjected to harmful environmental conditions.•      The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
