The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
The Area Portfolio Leader owns the execution of the Portfolio strategy, performance, and lifecycle of the product portfolio within United States and Canada. Aligns global portfolio direction to local market needs, drive growth and profitability, and ensure flawless execution across functions.
As a(n) Area Portfolio Leader for the Transportation Safety business at 3M, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity, collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world and support our goal of helping bring families home safely.
Here, you will make an impact by:
- Leading the execution of the Global Portfolio Strategy within US and Canada, translating global strategy into area plans; identifying priority segments, use cases, and driving priority programs and growth plays.
- Delivering revenue, margin, and share targets aligned to the Area Operational Plan for the business by managing pricing and mix.
- Optimizing assortments and managing end-of-life and replacement strategies.
- Driving execution of the Innovation pipeline by quantifying opportunities, shaping requirements with voice of customer, and partnering with Global Portfolio leaders and marketers to deliver area-relevant new products.
- Supporting the commercial team by leading new product launches, promotions, and channel programs to enable sales with positioning, messaging, and tools.
- Forecasting area demand, influencing S&OP, and managing constraints to meet service and inventory goals.
- Understanding and influencing local regulations, specs, and certification needs; tailoring offerings and messaging.
- Building relationships with key accounts, agencies, and channel partners; capture feedback and case studies.
- Collaborating cross-functionally with global portfolio, commercial, laboratory, government affairs, supply chain, among other key functions.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start)
- Five (5) years of business or technical experience in a private, public, government or military environment
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- [Master's] degree in Business administration or Marketing from an accredited institution
- Seven (7) years of business or technical experience in a private, public, government or military environment
- Government or highly regulated Industry experience.
- Skills include results driver, cross functional collaboration, analytical skills, customer focus and challenging status quo.
Work location:
- Work location: This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M Center in Maplewood, MN.
Travel: May include up to 20% domestic
Relocation: May be authorized
Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
