Principal Engineer
Remote - US
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITY
- Support Legion’s public cloud platform databases, leveraging AWS RDS MySQL, Redis and other
- Develop infrastructure automation leveraging Terraform, Python and Golang/Rust.
- Create and manage production database alerts. Respond to alerts and conduct root-cause investigation.
- Investigate data layer issues and general performance tuning.
- Lead FinOps for the data storage systems
- Support the deployment of Legion’s WFM solution during and off regular office hours
- This role involves participation in on-call rotation
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- 5+ years of experience with at least one programming language: Golang, Python, Rust, or similar.
- 7+ years of MySQL/Postgres database administration (RDS Experience preferred)
- Deep understanding of SQL & NoSQL storage systems and their associated design & performance implications.
- Demonstrated experience designing and implementing scalable database schemas and configurations.
- In-depth understanding of system-level bottlenecks, partitioning and sharing implementation details and tradeoffs, and scalable backup and recovery models.
- Bachelor’s in computer science or equivalent

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Salary Range: $180k - $210k
At Legion, we offer competitive compensation and benefits packages to all employees. As a fully remote employer, pay for positions is determined using local, national, and industry-specific survey data.
Our posted salary range is done so in good faith based on national data and may be refined for a candidate's region/town/cost of living. We strive to make competitive offers allowing employees room for future growth. Salaries will be based on the applicant’s location, level of experience, education, and specialized knowledge and skills. Additionally, we consider the external market rate, the amount we have budgeted internally, and internal equity within the company for the same position.
