Senior Software Engineer

 

We are currently seeking a Senior Software Engineer for our Herndon VA location. In this role you will be designing, developing, coding, and testing complex new software products, as well as making significant enhancements to existing software. The ideal candidate is a hands-on platform builder with significant experience in developing scalable data platforms, with experience in business intelligence, analytics, data science and data products. You must have strong, firsthand technical expertise in a variety of configuration management and big data technologies and the proven ability to fashion robust scalable solutions that can manage large data sets. Also be at ease working in an agile environment with little supervision. You should embody a passion for continuous improvement and innovation.

Required Knowledge/Skills:

• Experience with Scrum/Agile development methodologies.
• Capable of delivering on multiple competing priorities with little supervision.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Hands-on experience and is familiar with one or more of the following software/tools:
  • Experience with build automation technologies like Maven, Jenkins, etc.
  • Experience with modern programming languages like Java, Python, Scala etc.
  • Experience with building APIs and services using REST, SOAP, etc.
  • Experience with Elastic Search and relational databases.

Desired Skills:

• Hands-on experience with distributed computing systems: Hadoop, Elastic, Spark, EMR, Databricks, or other
• Knowledge of AWS Cloud technologies: EC2, S3, SQS, SNS, VPC, ELB
• Knowledge of servers operating systems: Linux, Windows
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Ability to comprehend database methodologies
• Focus on continual process improvement with a proactive approach to problem solving
• Ability to follow directions and finish taskings

Key Responsibilities:

• Research, design, develop and/or modify enterprise-wide systems and/or application software.
• Develop complex data flows or make significant enhancements to existing pipelines.
• Research emerging technologies to determine impact on application execution.
• Test software development methodology in an agile environment.
• Provide ongoing maintenance, support and enhancements in existing systems and platforms.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with data scientists, analyst, project managers and other engineers

Clearance Requirements:

• Active TS/SCI willingness to obtain a Polygraph
