Job Summary
IAIC (Independence American Insurance Company) is IPH’s carrier organization, responsible for actuarial pricing, indications, and insurance-driven insights into portfolio performance. The Data Science team within it ensures IAIC and IPH remain at the forefront of actuarial and pricing sophistication by evaluating new data sources, developing advanced analytical techniques, and delivering predictive insights that drive better-informed business decisioning.
We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist with hands-on experience in P&C or Pet Insurance pricing to join our growing R&D team. This is a senior individual contributor role responsible for leading complex data science initiatives, developing and maintains advanced predictive models, and maintaining partnerships with actuarial, underwriting, product, and data teams.
You will balance a portfolio multiple concurrent research initiatives in pricing, customer behavior, and other business analytics. This role requires someone who can independently run a project to ground, ask the right questions when roadblocks arise, and communicate complex modeling work to both technical and non‑technical audiences.

What You’ll Do
Pricing & Modeling Leadership
Develop, enhance, and maintain predictive models (e.g., GLMs, machine learning, ensemble approaches) to support pricing, segmentation, and performance forecasting while balancing regulator considerations.
Apply advanced statistical techniques to identify key drivers of sales, retention, and profitability, and forecast expected outcomes.
Serve as a technical lead on larger, cross-functional initiatives.
End‑to‑End Project Ownership
Lead scoped projects and drive them independently to completion, escalating questions or blockers appropriately
Manage a rotating portfolio of multiple active projects, including pricing model builds, research initiatives, and support for regulatory filings.
Data Exploration & Analytical Insight
Lead exploratory data analysis to evaluate relationships between data elements and insurance processes
