Summary

Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) seeks to fill the position of Maintenance Repairer 2. The Maintenance Repairer 2 is located within the Facility Services Department and performs general maintenance functions to campus buildings, facilities, and equipment. This is a full-time position.  

Examples of duties

Two years of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance; OR

Completion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering; OR

Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses.

Job Duties:

• Makes general repairs to buildings, interiors, exteriors, furniture, fixtures, air conditioning/heating systems and other mechanical and related fields such as plumbing, carpentry and electrical.

• Maintains and makes general repairs to a variety of motorized equipment including tune-ups, replacement and adjustment of won or damaged parts, (carburetors, generators, alternators, staters, pumps, brake linings/pads, etc.) and limited disassembly of major components (engines, transmissions, final drives, etc.) to determine the extent of damage and repairs necessary.

• Makes minor repairs to navigational locks such as replacing hydraulic hoses.

• Makes limited repairs to appliances, replaces parts and makes adjustments, etc.

• Starts, operates and checks for safety and maintenance of wide variety of handheld equipment,  motorized vehicles, tractors, combines, hay balers, planters, etc.
  Performs other related duties as assigned.

Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type:  Probationary appointment with a one-year agency probationary period. Successful completion of this period is required before obtaining permanent status.
