About the role

Summary

The St-Pierre Lab at the Neuroscience Department develops fluorescent biosensors and light-gated channels to image and control neural activity. The lab is looking for a motivated, organized, and resourceful Research Technician I to assist in lab managing tasks, ensuring smooth operations and to accelerate the research efforts. The technician will perform the routine elements of basic research laboratory maintenance and research work following established procedures. The technician should demonstrate teamwork by responding positively to requests for assistance to achieve optimal lab operations and results.

Job Duties

  • Assists with orders of laboratory supplies and equipment.
  • Performs regular inventory control.
  • Inspects and maintains lab equipment and lab facilities.
  • Provides technical assistance in carrying out assigned duties of research projects.
  • Collaborates with all members of the laboratory team by actively communicating, providing meaningful contributions and assistance as needed.
  • Performs bench chemistry, molecular biology or other scientific techniques according to protocols essentially mammalian tissue culture and molecular cloning.
  • Trains in new techniques and procedures as they emerge.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Two years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • One year of relevant experience.
