As a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer at Collins Aerospace, you will play a pivotal role in monitoring and enhancing supplier performance within our Interiors Seating division. Your expertise will contribute to reducing defects and fostering strong supplier engagement, ultimately ensuring the highest quality of seating products for the aerospace industry.
This is a hybrid role that requires weekly onsite presence based in Winston-Salem, NC. Anticipated travel is 40-65% as required to suppliers and other Collins sites.
May be eligible for relocation.
What You Will Do: :
Cross-Functional Support: Collaborate with Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing Engineering, and Quality Engineering teams to address and resolve supplier quality issues encountered in our manufacturing facility.
Supplier Development: Lead initiatives to support and enhance the quality systems of current suppliers, driving continuous improvement in performance metrics.
Corrective Action Implementation: Work directly with suppliers to execute and validate corrective actions for non-conformance issues utilizing the 8D process.
Performance Improvement: Engage with underperforming critical suppliers through supplier visits, root cause corrective action (RCCA) analysis, Collins ZDP, and comprehensive Manufacturing Process Reviews.
Standards and Specifications: Develop and implement quality-related requirements, specifications, standards, and work instructions.
Quality Assessments: Conduct on-site supplier quality assessments in compliance with ISO 9001 or AS9100 standards to identify improvement opportunities and enforce necessary corrective actions.
Internal Audits: Support the Quality Department by performing internal audits and ensuring compliance with established quality protocols.
Continuous Improvement: Actively measures process effectiveness and seeks innovative solutions for improvement, adeptly managing change.
Qualifications You Must Have: :
Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.
Qualifications We Prefer:
Experience in Quality or Supplier Quality Engineering, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Working experience with root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
Working experience with FAI, PPAP, and/or AS9100.
Working experience in the facilitation of supplier quality development and improvement.
Experience with one or more of the following commodities: Die castings, injection molded or vacuum formed plastics, electronics, machined components, stampings, soft goods (leather and vinyl).
