GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

The School of Arts, Education, and Humanities at Tiffin University is seeking applications for a full-time faculty position in English. This renewable contract role, commencing on August 15th, 2025, offers an exciting opportunity for a dedicated educator passionate about teaching and mentoring students across our English and General Education courses.  Candidates with a doctoral degree in English or a related field are invited to apply. ABD doctoral candidates with a clearly anticipated completion date at the time of application may be considered.


This is on on-campus position requiring the successful candidate to relocate to the Tiffin, Ohio area if not already residing in the area.


The successful candidate will teach 12 credit hours (four courses) per semester of English and/or General Education courses and demonstrate a strong commitment to classroom instruction at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to establish and mentor students and serve on various committees within the university. Evidence of effective teaching to diverse learners and experience in promoting and fostering a supportive learning environment using a variety of methodologies is a plus. The candidate will also contribute to curriculum design and evaluation, serve on department, division, and school committees to maintain and enhance the educational program and participate in relevant professional development activities. Moreover, the faculty member may be directed to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically delineated in this description.  

Requirements

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teach in-person classes as needed in the Fall and Spring semesters.
  • Instruct and supervise a diverse population of students in the classroom.
  • Possess a commitment to student engagement, student success, and instructional excellence.
  • Maintain current knowledge of effective teaching methodologies and utilize a variety of instructional delivery methods, classroom media, and educational resources.
  • Actively responding to student emails and requests within 24 hours.
  • Engage with students through electronic communications.
  • Employs a positive and professional tone in all communications with students, staff, and faculty.
  • Assist in efforts to recruit and retain students.
  • Adhere to Tiffin University policies and procedures.
