About the role

Job Summary:

The Principal Analyst, Compensation is responsible for developing targeted strategies and for administering company compensation programs, systems, and HR special projects in collaboration with key stakeholders, Estes internal customers, HR and team members. Leads, guides, coaches, and assists Compensation and HR team members in collaboration with management. This position reports to the Director, Compensation & Talent Analytics and has a medium to large degree of innovation, creativity and decision-making latitude required.

  • Under general guidance of the Director, the Principal Analyst performs a variety of impactful and complex technical duties relating to compensation and HR projects; through research of best practices and in collaboration with Estes internal customers and team members
  • Leads, guides, coaches, and assists team members as needed on Compensation related tasks and best practices.
  • Utilize and continue the development of complex databases to track and report on compensation/HR projects best practices and trends and/or support of programs, projects, problem identification and resolution
  • Research alternatives and prepares business cases and return on investment (ROI) for implementation of compensation/HR projects (e.g., Comp Program, Performance Management Process, Increase Cycles) and system strategies
  • Makes FLSA classification decisions and provides decision documentation and remedies for resolution and risk mitigation.
  • Leads annual Company Performance Adjustment (CPA) process in collaboration with Director and Executive Leadership, to include system implementation, analytics, required exception documentation, and recommendations on budgets, step increases, geo-differential movement, mileage rates, and timelines.
  • Translates market factors into business solutions through a keen understanding of the business and market conditions
  • Enhances analytics’ capabilities for Human Resources and Estes overall
  • Regularly audits compensation related business processes to identify legal liability and opportunities for improvement. Recommends and implements solutions.
  • Collaborates with HRIS/other experts to implement technological solutions in order to streamline processes and improve quality of results. Partner with experts and key stakeholders to drive development of business/system requirements, design discussions, test cases/test plans and application enhancements for implementation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree highly preferred or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background; Master’s Degree highly preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive previous experience in Compensation required. Strong knowledge of mathematical and financial principles required.
  • 5 years’ leadership experience; role model, coach, mentor required
  • Professional Compensation Certification (World at Work, etc) Highly preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage/lead complex cross-functional projects required
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality of all critical and sensitive compensation - related information required
  • Ability to influence key stakeholders’ decision making required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, to include Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook required
  • Ability to build reports in excel using all functions such as pivot tables and graphs required. Previous experience using PowerBI preferred.
  • Ability to understand, interpret, write, and implement policies and procedures required.
  • Excellent verbal, listening, written and presentation communication skills with the ability to network at all levels across Estes required
  • High level of professionalism, results orientation and customer focus required
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment under tight time constraints required
  • Must be able to comply with all company policies, rules, procedures and Code of Conduct
  • Must be able to interact well with others
  • Must be able to work independently, or in a team setting
  • Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high volume environment with multiple priorities
