Job Description

Senior Radar Systems Engineer

ElbitAmerica has a need for a Radar Systems Engineer supporting the architecture, design, implementation, integration, and verification of some of the most advanced multi-functional RF sensors and remote sensing applications. Key modes of operation include synthetic aperture radar for ground imaging applications, electronic protection to defeat the most advanced adversaries’ electronic attack, long-range search, and track waveforms to provide critical situational awareness to our customers. Daily activities may consist of requirements development, trade studies, algorithm design, MATLAB simulations, waveform design, signal processing, performance analysis, product demonstrations and testing.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop parametric representations, visualizations, and data-driven analyses to support sensor requirements definition and use-case validation, including waveform and signal processing implementation
  • Develop models and simulations in MATLAB, Python or C++ to perform radar computations, validate design choices, and troubleshoot integration findings
  • Work closely withy Software Engineers and System Integration and Test Engineers to complete software/system/hardware integration and performance verification progressing in digital simulation environments, radar labs, and our on-site System Integration Lab (SIL)
  • Engage with our customers to balance functional and performance requirements with other sensor functionality to enable true multi-function operation
  • Work with general oversight from more experienced engineers and mentors to independently apply physics and other concepts to solve technical challenges and complex problems related to Radar and RF systems
  • Frequently interface across disciplines and organizational boundaries, as well as with customers through presentations and working group meetings
  • Experience performing FMEA, requirements development, RF design, transmitter design, engineering drawings, root cause analysis, radar performance evaluation and calculations, and radar modeling
  • Participate in live radar testing and analyze recorded data to gain insights into performance and identify problems that impact meeting mission requirements
  • Study advanced radar performance using detailed physics-based simulations.
  • Develop algorithms to improve performance using recorded and modeled data.

As a Senior Radar System Engineer, you will:

  • Creatively apply our technical skills to identify and solve problems
  • Apply signal and data processing tools, including machine learning, to large data sets to develop novel algorithms
  • Investigate and address problems due to emergent phenomenology
  • Present analysis to sponsors or prime contractors to advise and guide program direction
  • Develop tasking to address future program needs in collaboration with program managers
  • Support multi-disciplinary teams in the innovation, development, and evaluation of advanced capability radar systems
  • Have opportunities to work with and learn from community experts wile developing new systems
  • Perform requirements analysis, system modeling, development, verification, and testing, ensuring system requirements satisfaction
  • Update and utilize toolsets to generation, manipulate and test system data
  • Take on increasing ownership and maturation of complex models used to desing, test and optimize system performance
  • Work with electronic warfare, electronic countermeasures, X-band Signal

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering, Physics or equivalent
  • Proficient in MATLAB, Python, C++ or equivalent high-level computing language
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • System/Data Analysis
    • Requirements Development
    • Algorithm Design
    • Modeling and Simulation
