Monday-Friday (occasional evenings and weekends) Position is not available for a Hybrid Telework workweek
POSITION PURPOSE:
Provides support and assistance to preschool teachers and school administrators in the use of curricular materials related to preschool programs; ensures compliance of federal, state, and local laws and procedures. Promotes standards-based instruction by co-teaching, modeling, focused observations, and professional learning community activities; supports teachers in using assessment data and analysis of student work to plan and deliver differentiated instruction.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs)
- Extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local compliance regulations;
- Extensive knowledge of best practices in special education and the development of young children;
- Extensive knowledge of the Every Child Accountability & Tracking System (ECATS);
- Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point; Google Apps;
- Demonstrated leadership and team building skills;
- Critical thinking and problem solving skills;
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback;
- Ability to work independently and complete tasks in the absence of clear direction;
- Ability to organize information pulled from multiple sources;
- Ability to design and deliver professional development;
- Ability to evaluate trainings and professional development to ensure topics and information are being implemented;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, students, parents, external agencies, and the community.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in early childhood education, special education, or related field;
- Five years of experience teaching young children;
- Experience in designing and delivering professional development to adult learners;
- Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.
CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
- Hold or be qualified to hold a North Carolina Professional Educator's License in Birth to Kindergarten;
- Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license according to the State of NC requirements.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree in early childhood, special education, or related field;
- Experience teaching in a preschool classroom at an elementary school;
- Experience teaching in culturally and economically diverse environments.
