Operating Supervisor, Supply Chain - Stores Ops., Staten Island Storeroom

About the role

The Operating Supervisor oversees functional activities within Stores Operations, including Regional Stores and Astoria Stores as needed. This role is accountable for managing assigned material and supply processes while ensuring full compliance with Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) standards. The Operating Supervisor is expected to deliver exceptional service in supporting the Companys material requirements and operational needs.

This position does not provide employment pursuant to the terms of a STEM OPT Training Plan.

Core Responsibilities
  • Oversee safe operation and maintenance of all store equipment (e.g., forklifts, storage racks, wrapping machines) and enforce security and housekeeping standards.
  • Plan, organize and assign personnel to ensure efficient, productive and safe store operations while meeting departmental goals and KPIs.
  • Supervise receiving, inspection, issuance, storage, and inventory control of materials, ensuring accuracy in systems and minimizing adjustments.
  • Provide oversight of team members, including supervising direct reports, managing performance, coaching staff, and assigning work to ensure effective operations.
  • Maintain efficient tool room operations and proper handling, storage and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
  • Utilize data analytics to drive informed business decisions and identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings.
  • Monitor resource utilization, manage overtime, control spending and review actual vs. budget performance to optimize financial outcomes.
  • Partner with internal customers to deliver high-quality, timely and accurate material support and service.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual agreements, training requirements, administrative processes and performance management for assigned personnel.
  • Participate in committees and task forces to implement new technologies, training enhancements and operational improvements.
  • Respond to storms and emergencies, fulfilling coastal storm plan roles and supporting material management processes as required.
Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 2 years of customer service, operational, and or logistics experience or
  • Associate's Degree and minimum 4 years of customer service, operational and or logistics experience or
  • High School Diploma/GED and minimum 5 years of customer service, operational and or logistics experience
Relevant Work Experience
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey information clearly and professionally, required.
  • Proven ability to make independent, well-reasoned business decisions using sound judgment, required.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, required.
  • Experience with storeroom operations, preferred.
  • Familiarity with store management systems such as DEMS, Mainsaver, CARS, Oracle EBS, and EMIS, preferred.
  • Knowledge of equipment and materials commonly used in operating organizations, preferred.

  • Ability to respond to system emergencies
  • Able to work in all weather conditions, i.e. excessive heat and/or cold
  • Stand, walk, lift, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, and/or reach for the duration of the workday
  • Ability to travel to company locations to work on storm restoration and heat contingencies
Additional Physical Demands
  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
