Mission Statement:
You will provide authoritative knowledge and expertise to our customers in energy portfolio advisory and strategic consulting and be able to generate comprehensive technical reports to explain the projects’ processes and findings and market conditions. You will Independently lead/perform consulting projects of high complexity, including for the following areas:
- Integrated Resource Plans
- Portfolio Risk Assessments
- Avoided Cost Studies
- RFP Evaluations
- Asset/Market Evaluations (including batteries and storage)
- Value Stack Analysis
- Energy Resource Plans (NetZero, Decarbonization, etc.)
- Capacity Accreditation Studies
- Resource Adequacy Studies
Your Responsibilities:
- Conduct consulting studies using Hitachi Energy simulation tools.
- Provide thought leadership in energy markets through Energy Market Intelligence workshops, industry conference presentations and panel moderations, webinar series, and whitepaper publications
- Continually stay ahead of market changes, staying abreast of electricity and fuel markets, technology trends, and policy & regulatory developments
- Contribute to Hitachi Energy’s product development, by identifying new opportunities and expanding our product and services coverage
- Provide insight to Hitachi Energy’s product managers for software tool improvements and roadmaps for client use in best practices and valuable reports
- Contribute to EPM product sales and marketing activities, specifically including explaining how Energy Portfolio Management [EPM] product sales can support client business decisions
- Have an understanding of regulatory and state policies regarding renewable energy development and electrification with the ability to incorporate same in simulation models, and stay current with the ever-changing and complex energy market and resource adequacy rules, transmission infrastructure developments, renewable energy mandates and incentive plans and net zero goals, and de-carbonization future
- Candidate will be an expert in simulation model software products for electricity markets (and ideally Hitachi Energy’s EPM products), such as:
- Portfolio Optimization (PO)
- Production Cost Modelling (PROMOD)
- Capacity Expansion and/or Integrated Model (IM)
Your background:
- Significant prior experience (typically 10+ years) in consulting services within the energy sector that gave you knowledge of the energy industry, renewables, or market modelling.
- Degree in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, Operational Research, or a related quantitative subject. Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills to adapt analysis to the changes in the energy sector’s dynamic transitional environment.
- Able to develop methodologies and create innovative solutions
- Systematic, quality-conscious, proactive approach and efficient time management
- Strong analytic skills, particularly quantitative analysis
- Ability to thrive in team environment
- Effective communication skills
