Position Summary

We are seeking a Cost Accountant & Data Analyst to join our Finance & Accounting team. This role is ideal for a highly analytical professional with a passion for cost accounting, financial systems, and data integrity, especially someone excited about making a direct impact on profitability and operational efficiency.

You’ll play a critical role in implementing our new ERP system (Microsoft Business Central), managing master data, enhancing inventory accuracy, and delivering insights that drive smarter financial decisions. Location: North Aurora, IL (On-site)
Department: Finance & Accounting
Reports to: Controller
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00AM – 5:00PM
Salary: $110k- $120k annually

Key Responsibilities

ERP Implementation & Data Management

• Lead cost accounting responsibilities during the implementation of Microsoft Business Central ERP.
• Build and maintain accurate master data including product records, bills of materials (BOMs), routings, and cost structures.
• Migrate cost and inventory data from the legacy AS400 system to the new ERP platform.

Cost Accounting & Financial Analysis

• Maintain cost accounting records related to dairy and food production operations.
• Develop standard costs for both manufactured and purchased products.
• Analyze cost variances and prepare product/category-level margin reports.
• Collaborate with Marketing and Product Development to evaluate and price new SKUs.

Inventory & Regulatory Compliance

• Oversee inventory valuation and ensure accuracy across systems and physical inventory.
• Support month-end and year-end inventory reconciliations and close processes.
• Ensure compliance with Federal Milk Market reporting requirements.

Financial Reporting & Strategic Project

• Generate monthly cost reports and provide actionable insights for executive leadership.
• Create financial models to support cost-reduction initiatives and process improvements.
• Maintain the fixed asset register and prepare depreciation entries and reports.
• Assist the Controller and CFO with audits, special projects, and budget planning.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
• 3–5 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment (food or dairy industry preferred).
• Hands-on experience implementing ERP systems (Microsoft Business Central strongly preferred).

Technical Skills

• Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, inventory management, and variance analysis.
• Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, financial modeling).
• Familiarity with relational databases and query/reporting tools.
• Experience working with legacy systems (e.g., AS400) and ERP transitions.

• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
• Proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to continuous improvement.
• Able to train and support teammates on new systems and processes.
