Overview of the role
We are offering a fantastic internship opportunity within Garrison’s Production team – we are seeking an ambitious and hardworking individual looking for hands-on experience within a unique and highly innovative company, and the opportunity to develop within the organisation over the course of a 9-12 month placement.
You will work closely with the Production Manager to help support the continuous improvement of workflows, practices and processes employed by the wider Production team, as well as contributing to continuous integration, deployment, testing/automation, and product engineering.
Garrison has a challenging, supportive and fast-moving working, and as a steadily growing and agile company there is plenty of room for personal development. Our technology stack ranges from bespoke hardware, FPGAs and embedded software, to mobile and desktop applications, web services and AWS. You’ll receive ample guidance for new tasks, but day-to-day we’re autonomous, organized and proactive.
We are open to candidates part way through a degree seeking 9-12 months of industry experience, and indeed those taking a gap year in advance of a degree.
Key Responsibilities
- Creating and improving production tests for both PCBs and system-level.
- Reporting and analysis of data relating to hardware production.
- Supporting the delivery Garrison’s products through the manufacturing process ensuring we deliver high quality products.
- Driving efficiency, improving processes where necessary.
- Assisting in requirement gathering and research in order to select appropriate components.
- Frequent collaboration with wider team on general ad hoc initiatives.
- Recognising the industry that Garrison operates in, and appreciating the importance of following Garrison's information security policies.
Skills & Experience
- Keen interest in tech and/or cybersecurity industry, with an aptitude for STEM related subjects.
- Analytical approach with excellent Excel skills (e.g. Formulas, Macros, V-lookups, Pivot Tables, etc.)
- Any exposure to programming, Linux systems, Python scripting, and/or PCB testing would be a bonus.
- Able to multi-task and collaborate with multiple teams effectively.
- Pro-active and able to work well independently as well as part of a wider team.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Detail-oriented, highly organized, proactive, pragmatic, with strong time management skills.
